Robert Parker 說 Clerico 是“Piedmont 皮埃蒙特地區最有才華的釀酒師 ”，他的酒，異常的豐富，驚人的芳香和強烈的個人特色，能讓享樂主義者和理性主義者都能得到滿足。莊主 Domenico Clerico 在小時候，他的父親就小量的種過葡萄來釀酒，但是表現並不好而放棄，1981年 Domenico Clerico 在 Ginestra 購買了 3.3 公頃土地，酒莊由此正式成立。Clerico 是一個非常小的酒莊，位於 Piedmont 的 Monforte 地區的四個 Grand Cru 名園 : 0.4 公頃在 Bussia , 4.5 公頃在 Ginestra , 1.8 公頃在 Pajana 和 1.5 公頃在 Moscon。

Domenico Clerico 是現代 Barolo 釀酒改良新興運動的倡導人之一，他的酒圓潤且集中，融合著更多的果香，鮮明紅寶石酒色有桑葚的口感，讓人聯想到勃根地的 Grand Echezeaux，且讓人不知道這些酒是 Nebbiolo 葡萄所釀製。

他是第一個在 Barolo 引進單一葡萄園概念，將不同小園區的酒分開裝瓶的人。讓土地的特性融入到葡萄中，從而使生產出來的酒具有獨特的性質。何時採收葡萄也是很重要的因素，因此都比一般其他的酒莊提早採收，因為他相信丹寧的成熟比葡萄甜度的成熟更重要。甜度高只是釀出酒精味很重的酒，高品質的丹寧才能確保一個高水準的酒，特別強調酸度，因為有酸度才會有酒的骨架。

Clerico 近幾年來開始實施 "green" farming methods 不使用任何殺蟲劑或化學肥料，只偶爾施用天然有機肥料。

想要一睹 Clerico 的釀酒功力，可以嘗試 Barbera d’Alba 和 Dolcetto d’Alba，充分地表達了葡萄的特性，而價格並非高不可攀。

如今 Clerico 的酒每年都獲得許多酒評家一致的好評，並得到 Wine Spectator及 Robert Parker 95分以上的高分肯定，可說是 Barolo 地區最重要的酒廠，並是許多收藏家必定收藏的酒款，2007年份的 Ciabot Mentin 更得到 Robert Parker 98 分的超高分數，早已超越大家所耳熟能詳的知名酒莊，證明 Clerico 早已是 Barolo 裡 -- 經典中的經典酒莊了。

The 2007 Barolo Ciabot Mentin is one of the greatest wines I have ever tasted at this address. Deep, sensual layers of fruit flow from the glass as this full-throttle, intense Barolo reveals its profound, breathtaking personality. The 2007 shows tons of Ginestra nuance, but with extra dimensions to the fruit that literally covers every nook and cranny of the palate. Tasting this next to the 2006 is quite a comparison, as both wines are fabulous. Readers who can should be sure to own bottles of both. A side-by-side comparison is sure to be fascinating as the wines develop over the coming years. Astute readers will note the slight name change here, which is the result of new regulations that require the use of the historic vineyard name, in this case Ginestra, or a proprietary name. Call me nostalgic, but it is sad to see one of the iconic labels in Barolo disappear. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027.

The 2007 Barolo Pajana is a showstopper. Waves of intense, beautifully delineated fruit flow onto the palate as the wine opens up in the glass. Sumptuous and elegant through and through, the Pajana shows marvelous delineation and clean, minerally notes that underpin the opulence of the fruit. This is a marvelous, totally complete Pajana of the highest level. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032.

The 2007 Arte (90% Nebbiolo, 10% Barbera) is a dark, sumptuous beauty endowed with layers of blackberries, sweet spices, and minerals. Though still rather firm, the wine possesses superb balance and a long, impeccable finish. Espresso, menthol, licorice and leather add complexity on the close. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2022.

Clerico’s 2009 Langhe Dolcetto Visadi is a powerhouse effort loaded with dried cherries, plums, spices, licorice and tar, all of which come together in a rich, sumptuous style. The Visadi finishes with notable balance and tons of class. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014.
