Yeringberg 應該是澳洲歷史最悠久和最低調的酒莊之一,想了解 Yeringberg 的酒而拜訪他們的官方網站,那你可要失望了,網站僅僅只有一頁,除了大大的秀出品牌 LOGO之外,完全看不到任何關於酒莊以及酒款的介紹,實在是因為他們的酒早早就被預訂光了。
要認識 Yeringberg 這家酒廠,首先你必須先拋開酒廠都應具備有富麗堂皇的城堡 (Chateau)和品酒室,華麗的現代化釀酒設備,金光閃閃的不鏽鋼釀酒槽,以及氣氛典雅的酒窖;Yeringberg 沿用上一代至今的木造農莊及馬厩,古老的釀酒設備,總能讓人感受到悠久歷史的深遠魅力,另外看到的也不是西裝畢挺,嗜好美食,像個暴發戶的酒堡莊主,Yeringberg的老闆 Guill de Pury 食衣住行的儉樸作風,靦腆的個性,跟一般的農夫沒有兩樣,在今天多金的葡萄酒界裡,簡直是個異類,單看他的外表說他是個生物化學博士 (PhD in biochemistry),你應該不會相信吧。
Yeringberg 酒莊是 Yarra Valley 的開創者之一(另兩家酒廠為 Mount Mary 及Yarra Yering),當第一代 Frederic Guillame de Pury 在1863年自瑞士移民至此購買葡萄園開始釀酒,之後參加倫敦、巴黎和舊金山的酒展,並贏的許多金牌,在當時成為世界上有名的酒莊之一。
在1921-1970年 Yarra Valley 的50年,因為經濟衰退、戰爭和根牙蟲肆虐的因素,釀酒事業已逐漸沒落,僅剩下畜牧業。今天 Guill de Pury已是酒莊第三代的主人,Guill 年輕時老是聽到當地老一輩的鄰居,總訴說他們有多麼懷念 Guill 的父親釀的酒,因此 Guill決定重新在1969年種植葡萄,是最早在 Yarra Vally重新種植葡萄的人之一,這一決定開啟了 Yarra Valley釀酒業的文藝復興。
Yeringberg 僅有極小的5英畝葡萄園,大部分的葡萄樹齡都很長,每英畝只生產2噸的極低產量,且全部用手工採收,五個酒款年產量僅僅只有1200箱,遇到年份不好時,不是生產很少就是全部丟棄不上市(如2004年的Pinot Noir 只生產24箱),對品質一向堅持完美。Hung Johnson 甚至於說老年份的 Yeringberg Cabernet Blend 可以媲美 Chateau Lafite,可見Yeringberg 的酒深具收藏價值。
Guill de Pury 特立獨行的個性,不會主動追求酒評家高分的肯定,也不為獲取高分改變釀酒的方向,一切按照自己的意志,忠實的反應當地葡萄園的地理環境,Yeringberg 的酒屢獲酒評家高分的肯定,James Halliday 評定為五顆紅星最高級的酒莊之一,澳洲另一知名酒評家 Jeremy Oliver 也常給予 Yeringberg 酒莊五顆紅星非常高的評價。
Yeringberg makes small volumes of fastidiously grown wine in the cellars beneathe its historic 19th century winery. Its hallmark elegance, restraint, perfume and intensity tend to help its tiny volumes of wine age quite beautifully.

“Blended of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec and 9% Petit Verdot, the 2008 Cabernet Blend was matured 21 months in French oak, 35% new. With a medium to deep garnet/purple color, it reveals pretty aromas of cassis, eucalyptus, chocolate mints, pencil shavings and cloves. It is well structured with medium to firm very fine tannins and medium-high acidity. With a full body, it has a generous amount of fruit lingering into the long finish. Consider drinking this wine from 2013 and it should continue to evolve and givepleasure to 2022+.”

Long and charming, with a fresh, lightly herbal bouquet of white peach, pear and restrained nutty oak. It's juicy and generous but rather elegant, with pleasingly vibrant flavours of white peach, nectarine and melon backed by nuances of citrus and nutty oak. Smooth and creamy, it's just very slightly unpolished and edgy at the finish.

Yeringberg Marsanne Roussanne 2008
Very restrained and evenly paced, with a delicate, lightly spicy and floral perfume of white peach, melon and earthy, slightly mealy undertones. It's generous and mouthfilling but also quite elegant, with a nutty, finely powdered palate whose lingering, spicy expression of reserved peach and pear-like fruit finishes with refreshing acidity.

Regarding the longevity of Yeringberg wines, Guill recalls the story of the 1915, tasted by no less an authority than Hugh Johnson, which Guill had purchased back off a collector in Tasmania.
